Crippled Stripper / Josh Warburton
Crippled Stripper
What started as a jam session project between Josh Warburton & Davey Sopko in the fall of 2008 quickly turned into a great new original band. Jerry Love, eager to jam after a few month hiatus from playing regularly in Presence: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin, joined Josh & Davey at Josh's house to feel out the vibe of the crazy, noisey duo. He suggested an invitation to Brian Huntsman, bass player extraordinaire and talented singer to complete the outfit. This four piece, along with a couple sessions with the incredible Justin Hansen, quickly gelled into a tight-sounding, blues/rock group featuring both Josh & Brian on lead and background vocals along with extra voice parts from Jerry. All members are passionate about the music and committed to using the best available instruments and amplification to capture a very powerful, natural sound. Josh's performance background includes fronting projects opening for such acts as SheDaisy, John Lee Hooker, Jr., & The Little River Band. He's been writing and playing original songs since he was 15, performing in Utah, Arizona, Nevada & California. Brian, a bass legend in So. Utah currently is a member of a number of performing local bands including Durty Burt, The Western Bone Cleavers and The Flesh Stretchers and was in the Warburton Allstar Band in 2003 with Josh Warburton & bandmates Korky Ollerton & Shawn Taylor (of The Trigger Locks, Silent Sevens & Eric The Red). Jerry, who along with Warburton played in Wishlist in 1999/2000, and original rock project was the organizer of Presence: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin, and featured him on guitar, alongside Warburton on bass, Ollerton on drums and blues yeller Jerone Wedig on vocals and harmonica. Some of the songs played by Presence have made their way into the lineup of Crippled Stripper. Davey has performed for many years with various bands of different types. He lived and worked as a studio drummer on So. Cali, along with other session work before settling back in sunny SG. The music could best be described as heavy blues & original rock but some of the original and jams are hard to categorize. CripStrip is quickly building a following with it's loud live shows!
