KIM H. WHITNEY - SINGER/SONGWRITER
Kim is new to the nusic scene and has just recently started performing, however, he has been writing songs for over 30 years. He has written over 100 heart-felt songs about his life including 3 new songs in January 2009. Most of his original songs weave tales of his life's experiences and emotions.
Some of Kim's musical influence comes from the 1960's and 1970's with Bob Dylan and Niel Young's, style of folk/country. Critics have recently compared his voice to that of Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.
Last year Kim got into the studio and put together his first CD entitled "God's in My Way" along with 17 other original songs. He has re-kinkled his passion for music and has put his heart and soul into recording. "God's in My Way" got some air time on local radio, STAR 98FM, around Christmas 2008 and also on Sam Payne's 'Sounds of Sunday' program about the same time.
Kim recently joined SUSWA and started attending Tuesday night tune-smithing classes and has started performing at Jazzy Java's, Wednesday night open mic.
