“Mason’s Jar of Jam” can be described as an eclectic breed of a folk-acoustic rock-jazz sound which incorporates cultural influences in a seamless, infectious harmony.
Cottam is a graduate of both Dixie High School and Dixie College and is in his highly anticipated final year at Southern Utah University. Mason is the current winner of 2005 Guitars Uunplugged at SUU and teaches guitar at Trouvere School of Music in Cedar City. He has performed twice for the Songwriter Showcase hosted by Groovacious in Cedar City, and is an active member of the Groovefest committee and SUSWA. Cottam has been performing for several years throughout Utah as a solo act and with his band Gradient. His influences vary from singer-songwriters, such as James Taylor and Cat Stevens, to that of Led Zeppelin and the Dave Matthews Band.
