Marcia Worthington has been writing songs since she was four years old. Growing up in the Bay Area, her influences were the great rock and folk groups from that era. Also her family played at get-togethers, giving her many memories to draw inspiration from. Marcia is an award winning songwriter, having received first place in a songwriting competition with the Portland Singer-Songwriter Association. She also wrote a song for a homeless benefit auction in Seattle that raised over $2 million dollars. For many years, she wrote praise and worship songs for local churches that are still being used throughout the northwest to share Gods love with people of many denominations.
The music of Marcia and her current band, Coyote Moon, would best be described as Americana, pulling a little bit from rock, folk, blues, bluegrass, country and traditional Christian hymns. A typical set includes a mix of covers and original music.
Marcia is adept at guitar, mostly finger style, and really starting to take off on mandolin and fiddle. Most of her writing is done on the guitar, as the words seem at times to flow from her fingers, direct from her heart.
Two years ago she and her husband Dan moved to St. George from Seattle. Dan is her bass player and support group, the only constant in the ever-evolving line-up of Coyote Moon.
